Shared drains outside the boundary belong to Dŵr Cymru

Since October 2011, a drain or sewer that runs outside a property's boundary, or serves more than one house, has been Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water's responsibility. That covers many of the shared runs behind Llanelli's older terraces. The owner looks after pipes inside the boundary that serve only their own house, so the position of a blockage decides who clears it.

Listed buildings in the town centre need consent for some work

Llanelly House, the Town Hall and the Grade II* Tabernacle Chapel are among the listed buildings in the centre. Works that affect a listed building's character need listed building consent from Carmarthenshire County Council, and some external redecoration falls into that. Check the listing before repainting a frontage or replacing windows in the centre.

Render and paths near the Burry Inlet streak and turn green

The Millennium Coastal Path follows the Burry Inlet from Loughor to Pembrey, and houses near it at Machynys, Pwll and Burry Port take the wind off the estuary. Render streaks, paths and walls turn green, and gutters fill with grit and blown debris.

Retail park car parks collect oil, gum and leaves

Much of Llanelli's shopping sits on the parks at Trostre and Pemberton, reached by the A4138 from junction 48 of the M4. Their glazed frontages, trolley bays and car parks gather oil, chewing gum and leaf litter. Industrial and trade units around Trostre and Dafen carry the dust and residue that come with manufacturing and distribution.
