Solar panel cleaning in South and West Wales

Dirt, bird droppings, lichen and salt cleaned from solar panels on house roofs, farm buildings, commercial roofs and ground-mounted arrays.

Panel glass has a coating that scratches more easily than ordinary glass. Detergents, scouring pads and pressure washers can damage it or force water into seals and junction boxes, which is why many panel makers advise against them.

Hard droppings and lichen are softened with water before they are lifted off, so the glass is not scraped. The frames and lower edges, where lichen and moss collect, are cleaned at the same time.

Questions people ask

What does solar panel cleaning cost?

The price depends on how many panels there are, where they are mounted, the height of the building and whether access equipment is needed.

Will cleaning affect my panel warranty?

Some manufacturers set conditions for cleaning, such as no detergent or no pressure washing. Check your warranty document and send us any specific instructions with your enquiry.

Will I see a difference in output after cleaning?

It depends how dirty the panels were. Heavily soiled panels may show a change on your monitoring, and lightly soiled ones may show little. Output also varies with the weather, so compare similar sunny days.

When is the best time of year to clean solar panels?

A clean in spring removes winter dirt before the longer days, when panels produce the most. A clean in late summer removes pollen and dust. Panels can be cleaned at other times in dry weather.
